How Global Trends Are Shaping the Local Market: Businesses on Digital Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is increasingly keeping pace with global trends in digital commerce, and the recently held Summer Networking Night 2025 demonstrated how quickly the local eCommerce sector is responding to changes and opportunities coming from the international market.

The event, organized by the eCommerce Association in BiH and the Croatian Business Club in BiH, brought together business leaders and experts from the digital commerce sector. Discussions focused on key changes shaping the domestic market – from the entry of international eCommerce platforms, to the need for modern infrastructure, and increasingly complex consumer expectations.

During the evening, the eCommerce Association presented its latest research findings. Data revealed that 83.4% of customers in BiH use mobile devices for online shopping, while 77.9% expressed readiness for parcel locker deliveries. Special attention was drawn to the fact that platforms such as Temu are already used by more than 42% of online customers, while at the same time over 60% of domestic web shops still do not feel their direct market pressure. This discrepancy opened important questions around positioning of local offerings, adapting logistics, and building consumer trust in local brands.

eCommerce is no longer just a sales channel; it is a strategic direction for economic development. Domestic companies must strengthen their competitiveness not only against local rivals but also against global platforms already present in the hands of BiH consumers,” emphasized Orhan Gazibegović, President of the eCommerce Association in BiH.

Summer Networking Night once again highlighted the importance of networking, sharing experiences, and gaining insights into market trends – all of which help local businesses make informed decisions and strengthen their resilience in the digital environment.
